New Century Buffet **

New Century Buffet is an Asian cuisine buffet. First off, when we went, the electricity was out so we could not pay with a debit card so we had to leave and go get cash from an ATM. Upon our returning they told us we could not eat until the power came back on, in about 10 minutes, which happened to be when "Dinner" pricing started. We started off with some sushi, we had a seaweed salad roll, spicy california roll and several sushi pieces: red snapper and tuna, I think. The rolls aren't that bad if you like Vons style sushi and dry fish, but for a buffet not too shabby. Next, we indulged in the delicate appetizers of the asian world. Such as soggy fried gyoza, and grease saturated lobster egg rolls. Another flop, the rubbery calamari. On to the staples, the orange chicken was actually good, too bad the beef and broccoli was chewy, as was the gum-esque mongolian beef. Who likes mushy noodles? I guess the New Century Buffet does because their lo-mein was more like lame-mein. They did have a lot of seafood, though I'm not sure thats a good thing. How do you fry the meat out of crab? When you crack a leg open, theres nothing in there but paper-flavored crab meat remnants. On to the dessert, what can be expected, the ice cream was good and the....I guess just the ice cream was good.
The pricing was $9 a plate for dinner and that includes a drink. For the price and the quality of the food, OK, but I wouldn't make another trip. I'd rather skimp on variety and just stick with Panda Express.

Welcome

Hi,
My name is April, and this is mine and my husbands(Benjamin), food blog. We do consider ourselves to be a bit snobby when it comes to eating out, perhaps too much food network, or maybe we were just born this way. Either way, our particularities are to your advantage. You'll get an accurate(we think), honest opinion about all the places we eat-out in beautiful San Diego, Ca. As we are just starting this endeavor, there are, of course, many places that we have already eaten at, but we will not blog about because we want all our blogs to be fresh from the eatery, so to speak, and not month-old opinions. I hope you enjoy, and that maybe some of this may be of some use to you all.
Sincerely,
Eating San Diego
